Hi Friends! My name is Maja Sofie and I am the mom of two wonderful girls. I love everthing Homeschool and have officially homeschooled my oldest since she started 1st grade in 2021. We don’t use a set overall curriculum but I come up with unit studies. I am inspired by Charlotte Mason’s living books, the creativity and gentleness of Waldorf’s philosophy, and all the manipulatives and hands-on-open-play and exploring in the Montessori universe.

I came up with the name “Hygge and Homeschool” because Hygge is such a big part of my world and the way I homeschool. I am from Denmark and Hygge is a Danish word that best translates into the cozy warm feeling you get in the stomach when you sit under a blanket on a winter day in front of a fireplace, with a cup of warm tea in your hand and watch the snow falling outside— or when your spend a whole evening having wonderful conversations with a group of your best friends and suddenly it’s 1am and none of you know where the hours went — or the warmth in your heart when both of your kids smile up at you at the same time with twinkling eyes and warm play dough in their hands. In my little Homeschool universe the days will not always be picture perfect or go as planned but I hope we always have Hygge in our lives and I hope to share more of that with you all.

Thanks for visiting my little blog. I hope you get inspired by what I share!

Happy Homeschooling,

Maja Sofie
