Fairy Tales

I have always loved fairy tales, to me fairytales have such a deep almost dreamlike feel over them. Fairy tales are a corner stone in our homeschool especially in the elementary years. In homeschooling I often use fairy tales to stimulate creativity and help develop a rich imagination, I love reading one out loud and then acting it out with my kids.

Fairy tales often include moral lessons and values, which we can agree or disagree with. Through the characters and their experiences, we can learn about kindness, courage, honesty, and the consequences of certain actions. But we can also disagree with a moral of a tale and this opens up to a rich discussion about our own morale and values.

Coming from Denmark I also feel different fairy tales often reflect the culture from which they originate. Reading a variety of fairy tales from different cultures exposes us to different perspectives, customs, and traditions. I love how we can learn how people from all over the world think and live through their fairy tales.
