Behind Hygge and Homeschool – Why I Started Something New
Hygge and Homeschool wasn’t something I came up with overnight. It had been quietly growing in me for a long time—a soft longing, a small idea that kept returning. It grew from the everyday moments I wanted to hold on to. Moments filled with connection, creativity, and a kind of quiet magic I didn’t want to forget.
I’ve always loved watching other families’ homeschooling videos. There's something comforting about stepping into someone else’s gentle rhythm—seeing the way they live and learn and create space for slow, meaningful days with their children.
And for the longest time, I thought to myself: I would love to share what we’re doing too.
Not because it’s perfect. But because it’s real. It’s warm and creative and alive with little magical details. We spend our days building, drawing, imagining, telling stories, growing things, baking together, reading. It’s all deeply woven into our everyday life.
So I started dreaming a little bigger:
Could I actually start something? A YouTube channel? A place to share?
Then came the doubt.
Can I really do this? Will it feel too vulnerable? Too personal?
And—can I even do it in English?
Yes—Hygge and Homeschool is in English. That was a big step for me. English isn’t my first language, and I worried at first if my voice would still feel true. But as I got started, I realized that it wasn’t about perfection—it was about connection. And creating something from the heart.
And while I love making content in English, I still keep writing on my original blog, majasofie, in Danish. That space is my home, my heart language—my lifeline to Denmark and to writing just for the joy of it, in the words that come most naturally.
But what surprised me most about starting Hygge and Homeschool was how much joy it would bring.
I love filming and editing. I’ve taught myself everything from scratch—how to use YouTube, how to create thumbnails in Canva, how to plan and shape little videos that feel like honest reflections of our days. Not polished. Just true. Just ours.
It has become a creative outlet I didn’t know I needed.
A space where I feel free.
And a spark that’s lit up so much more than just a screen.
Something shifted: I now create more than I consume.
Before, I used to scroll through others’ beautiful content. Now I find myself picking up the camera, or opening my notebook, or getting a quiet thrill from editing a new video. I’m writing again. Dreaming again. Enjoying the process—allof it. Even the messy bits.
This creative project has made me more present in my everyday life. It’s not just about documenting—I feel like I’m actually seeing more. Noticing more. The light through the window. A funny comment from one of the kids. The quiet beauty of a slow morning.
Hygge and Homeschool isn’t just about homeschooling—it’s about honoring childhood, everyday magic, and the joy of learning and living together. It’s about rhythm, storytelling, seasons, slow moments, and wild ideas. It’s about creating a little space online that feels cozy, honest, and alive.
And thank you.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for reading.
And thank you for cheering me on—just by showing up.
Have you been holding a quiet idea in your heart too? One you’ve just started—or one that’s still waiting to bloom?
