Math

Math is one of Mathilde’s favorite subjects, so it should be super easy to engage her in learning about it— however, her and I have very different ways of approaching problems so it took some trial and error from my side to find a curriculum and a teaching style she really loves.

I love the Waldorf approach with stories and learning about the numbers one by one and I had all these ideas of Math-Gnomes and story based learning, but she just wanted go head first into the actual math problems. We tried a few curriculums and I found out, that I like finding my own manipulatives and having a very flexible schedule where we can just open the book and do the amount of math that works for us on a set day. We ended on Beast Academy for 3rd grade and it really works well for us now.
