History
We use several curriculums in our study of History. Our main or core curriculum is History Quest which I love! I use History Quest. However, I do not use the study guidebooks — I am incapable of and get so stressed when we have to follow a 5 days schedule. I got the first one and thought we were going to be doing a lot of the suggested reads and activities, but I found so many other resources when planning out each unit, that I never really opened the guide after our first unit. If you love having a planned-out curriculum with great activities - go for it - it looks really fun, it just doesn’t work for me.
The way I teach History is basically that I am going through the timeline of Humanity – era by era found in a World History Encyclopedia and unit study by unit study and then fill in the gaps with History Quest so I know, we have been through everything in those books. I use a ton of other reference books and resources that I am sharing in each unit study, in the video below, I am sharing the books I use overall for overview.
Here I share how I teach history to my 3rd grader and which curriculums and books I have loved to use.
